Who we are
Meerkat is operated by Schmade Studio, an independent design and engineering studio. When this policy says “we” or “us”, that's who we mean.
- Operator
- Schmade Studio
- Product
- Meerkat

- Jurisdiction
- United States
What we collect
The minimum required to run Meerkat. Specifically:
- Account info — your email address and a display name when you sign in. Nothing more.
- Your prompts & saved templates — the content you create in the builder, stored so you can come back to it.
- Chat messages— when you talk to Meerkat in the custom chat, those messages are sent to OpenAI via the Vercel AI Gateway to generate a response, then stored in your browser's local storage so the draft survives a refresh.
- Anonymous usage— Vercel Analytics tells us things like “500 people opened the builder this week.” It does not identify you and it does not see the contents of your prompts.
What we don't collect
Stuff a lot of products grab that we don't need:
- No advertising trackers, no third-party pixels.
- No browser fingerprinting, no session replay, no shadow profiles.
- No selling, renting, licensing, or trading your data. Period.
- No training of AI models on your prompts. Your prompts are yours.
How we use what we have
We use the data above to: run the product, keep your saved library available to you, generate responses when you ask Meerkat for help, and understand at the most basic level whether things are working. That's the whole list.
We will never message you, market to you, or share your email with anyone outside the operators of Meerkat itself.
Who else sees your data
A short list of well-known infrastructure providers, used only as plumbing:
- Vercel
- Hosts the app and routes AI requests via the AI Gateway.
- Supabase
- Stores your account, saved prompts, and library.
- OpenAI
- Generates responses when you chat with Meerkat. Subject to OpenAI's API data policy — not used for model training.
- Vercel Analytics
- Aggregate, anonymous usage counts. No personal data.
When you use the Claude connector
Meerkat is available as a custom connector inside Claude. When you connect it, you authorize Claude to call Meerkat's tools on your behalf — same account, same data, same shelf as getmeerkat.dev. A few specifics worth saying out loud:
- What we receive — only the inputs to the specific tool Claude is calling: a prompt to refactor, a chat message, a search query, a project id. We do not receive the rest of your Claude conversation, your other connectors, or anything about your Claude account.
- What we store — prompts you ask Meerkat to engineer or save are written to your Meerkat shelf the same way they would be on the web, tagged with their source so you can see (in your account) which entries came from Claude.
- OAuth — Claude receives a scoped access token issued by our Supabase auth server. You can revoke it at any time from your account or from Claude's connector settings; either action invalidates the token immediately.
- No training— connector traffic is not used to train models, ours or anyone else's. Claude tool inputs are processed exactly like web inputs and subject to the same OpenAI API data policy.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we have on you, correct anything wrong, or deleteyour account and everything attached to it. We'll do it within 30 days, usually within 48 hours, by replying to a single email.
If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA. Same process — email us and we'll handle it.
Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies for authentication (so you stay logged in) and a single analytics cookie for anonymous usage counts. No advertising cookies, no third-party tracking cookies, no consent banner theatre.
Children
Meerkat is built for adults working with AI tools. It is not designed for anyone under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material we'll update the effective date at the top and, if you have an account, send you a single email noting what changed. We will not bury changes in version diffs.
